SilverStripe is a Content Management System just like WordPress, Joomla or Drupal if you are familiar with those. I stumbled upon it whilst searching for job opportunites and one of the requirements to a job was to have experience with SilverStripe.
Funny enough, once I read through It I figured you dont need to be an expert developer to be able to use SilverStripe. This CMS has more of a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get interface. In fact it is a WYSIWYG allowing backend users or administrators to edit text, images and videos onto the page just like in any office tools such as Microsoft Word.
The image above shows the demo back end for the SilverStripe that anyone can acess and get familiar with the layout. On your left is your navigation pane to switch different pages of the site. The middle pane shows your editor where you can edit text and images. On the far right is the preview of the site. Once you click on the 'Publish' button, chages will be reflected on the preview pane.
The installation is pretty similar to all CMS. You can download the package and install on our webserver, keeping in mind that your server supports MySQL and PHP support. You can also have it installed through 'Composer'.
Compared to other CMS, SilverStripe is capable if creating interactive and top-ranked websites in a short span of time. However it is a new CMS with a smaller community compared to giants such as WordPress. About less than 1% of websites are powered by SilverStripe and it has its own 'Developer Network' that allows the company to offer paid development services to its users. It has more social media functions compared to WordPress and other CMS.
All in all, if I want to set up a quick website that is easy to use with less complexity, I would recommend SilverStripe since it is very user-friendly.
