Website Assessments

What should my website look like?

You want a website that is attractive, easy to use and interactive so that users can grab information and have fun at the same time.

How do you achieve this? There are so many small things to consider but I'd like to share list of top 5 things to think about when designing your user interface.

1. Color

Choose the right color for your background, fonts and blocks. If you are building a site about food, use warm colors.

2. Font

Have you seen the fonts used in most top sites? They are very simple fonts like "Calibri" or most times "Century Gothic". However you can use google fonts - just get the links online and paste them in your css style sheet.

3. White spaces

This will have something to do with your content. If you have a lot of content, you might want to give sufficient white spaces to give visitors some "breathing space". If you have too little content, try increasing their sizes to fit the spaces, do not leave too much white spaces or visitors might think the page is still loading.

4. Images

Make sure your images are of high quality - but be careful of the size, must not exceed 1 MB or it will slow down the page load time. Put attractive images, once that will capture visitors attention.

5. Layout

Basic layout of your page should show most of the interesting content on the first top part of the page. If it means creating right and/or left side bars to display news feeds or promotions, do so.

Your first impression is your first top part of your page - any page, either your home page or your contact page, it should be attractive and consistent.

I hope you've got some basic tips about user interfaces and ready to go out there and try out as many new templates as possible. The possibility is endless.

peace out!
